Upcoming

Everyone is doing Carter this time of year. The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra did an homage to the 100 year old American composer the other day.  So did the Boston Symphony.  Locally, the Esoterics are celebrating two centenaries – Carter and Messiaen’s.  From what I can tell, the Esoterics are the only group in Seattle intentionally paying tribute to Elliott Carter’s centenary.

Tomorrow, the UW World Series brings the Harlem Quartet to town.  The Harlem Quartet is bringing an ecclectic and intriguing program of Turina, Piston, Strayhorn, and Brahms.

Friday, Jaap Ter Linden is playing all six of J.S. Bach’s Solo Cello Suites at Town Hall.  This will no doubt be very popular.

Also, this weekend, Carolyn Kuan leads the Seattle Symphony in a performance featuring Tchaikovsky’s 1st Symphony and a Vivaldi Oboe Concerto played by Ben Hausmann.
